CAL Solutions (DBA), was founded by Kathy and Mike Naylor in 2014. Kathy is the CEO, Principal Consultant and an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC). Mike serves as a business partner, thought leader and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Kathy is the Practice Leader serving as Chief Consultant, Executive Coach and a global Human Capital/Organization Transformation Leader.

In this role, she is focused on helping leaders solve their most complex and pressing business, leadership, and human capital issues.   In today’s world of constant disruption, those issues include everything from navigating the future of work to enabling the digital organization—all centered around how to optimize the intersection of the workforce and business performance. Throughout her 30+ year career, Kathy has worked with some of the world’s leading organizations and has led worldwide initiatives to improve capability and effectiveness. She has been a speaker on market trends, human resources, disruption, leadership effectiveness, coaching, emotional intelligence and innovation; key topics impacting organizations, and offers wisdom and thought leadership in the area of solutions.  Previous to owning Cal Solutions, she was Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer/Change Champion for a medical center. Prior to that, she served in the highest-level capacities in various organizations in the technology services, telecom, manufacturing, and professional services industries; as well as in the executive branch of the Federal Government as a presidential appointee.  She serves and has served as a member Board of Directors in organizations where she was employed, on community and professional boards to include their Executive Committees and on White House presidentially appointed boards at the US Department of Defense and the US Department of State.  She is the author of five publications. Kathy has a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in Economics/Finance and minor in Educational Psychology from Robert Morris University, and a Master of Science in Human Resources with a major in Organizational Behavior and Development from the Kogod School of Business at The American University. Noteworthy to mention is she served as a Mediator for 3 years with DC Superior Courts, where her dispute resolution rate was 98%.

Mike is the Business Manager, Chief Financial Officer and Kathy’s executive assistant.

He is also a defense industry executive currently working as the Chief Operating Officer with PKL Services. PKL provides aircraft maintenance services, maintenance and pilot training and logistics support to Domestic and Foreign military services.

Mike retired from the U.S. Marine Corps at the rank of Colonel after a distinguished 30-year career. He served in top level leadership capacities most recently serving as the Deputy Commander, Marine Corps Installations West at Camp Pendleton (similar to being the Mayor Pro Tem or Deputy Governor). Previously, Mike served as the Executive assistant to the Deputy Commandant of the Marine Corps for Programs and Resources (CFO of the Marine Corps) in the Pentagon, Chief of Staff to the Commanding General of U.S. Joint Forces Command and U.S. National Liaison Representative to NATO Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, VA.

Highlights of Mike’s Marine Corps career also included his duties as the Commanding Officer of two separate training organizations with responsibilities similar to those of a CEO. As a Marine pilot, he accumulated 5,000 hours in a variety of aircraft including the CH-46E, CH-53D/E, UH-1N, and MV-22A (Osprey) where he was the Operational Test Director. Noteworthy to mention is that he had the distinct honor of flying two Presidents of the United States (George H.W. Bush and William Clinton) during a four-year tour as a Presidential Pilot and Aircraft Commander at HMX-1 (MARINE ONE) in the VH-3D and VH60N.

Mike earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science degree in National Security Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, Washington DC.
